Thank You!!!

Thanks!

It’s such a simple word but it has such a profound effect. Saying thanks is one of the best ways to share our hearts. I’m always amazed at how many people never say thank you. What’s so hard about saying this to the people who make your life a bit easier? Doesn’t matter if it’s the clerk at the grocery store or your surgeon. People who do things for us deserve to be thanked — time and time again.

I have a friend who feels I say thank you too much. Hmmmmm, I think this is a curious comment. Actually, this isn’t a comment about me. It’s a comment about her because she’s so generous and she’s so darn humble. As long as she continues to give of herself, I will ALWAYS thank her — whether she wants me to or not.

Years ago I used to create my own Thanksgiving cards. The front of the card had the word, THANKSFORGIVING, on it. Inside the card I wrote personal messages for the love and support I received. I also thanked these special people for — for forgiving my quirks and weaknesses. To me, “thanksforgiving” expands the reality of Thanksgiving. How can I thank someone without asking for their forgiveness?

So for this Thanksgiving, I hope you add an element of asking for forgiveness, too, right along with the many helpings of stuffing, mashed potatoes, turkey and cranberry salad.

THANKSFORGIVING me for all the times I’m not my best!
